This is a story about my beloved grandmother and her dog. She has had other dogs, but this is her last.
My sister has always thought of doing some sort of video project with my grandmother. Her story needs to be told. Every grandmother’s story should be documented. This story about one of her dogs, Candy, is only one of many.
My grandmother spent most of her early life in St. Louis, and her adult life in Los Angeles. Born Mexican, but adopted by African Americans, everything she knew and thought was from a Black persective. She has lived a charmed life, having 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. She is loved by many, including her dog, which is her domestic companion.
As the idea ran with my sister, who is a dog owner and lover herself, she is the one who really came up with the idea of doing a piece on my grandmother and her dog. My Sister, my brother and I thought of an approach, including questions, shot angles, and what the overall feel of the piece would be, and we were finally able to complete what is one of my most proudest works to date.
Thank you all for viewing, and I am proud to have such a wonder family willing to be a part of the this project.
